Bank deposits in San Diego County grew from $23.0 billion to $47.25 billion in the decade ended June 30, 2006. Perusal of the 1996 list at left is a reminder of the dearly departed – Scripps Bank, Peninsula, Bank of Commerce, Grossmont, Cuyamaca and others. The excitement is in the ’05 to ’06 comparison, when Bank of America lost ground. Among the locals that gained deposits and market share were San Diego National Bank, Pacific Trust Bank, Bank of Internet, Torrey Pines Bank, Regents Bank, Imperial Capital, Discovery Bank and Point Loma Community Bank, among others.
