Shop Talk Q&A with Toby Reschan

What are your hobbies and relaxations?

World travel, San Diego sports and Civil War history.

Did you ever have a mentor and what did he/she teach you?

My wife Meg Summers has taught me the importance of friendship and the value of pursuing my dreams with passion and enthusiasm. Another mentor would be Larry Willette, the former President of Peninsula Bank and Chairman Emeritus of San Diego Trust Bank. Larry’s commitment to the banking industry, to the San Diego community, to valued friends and to family serves as the model for living one’s life.

Five years from now, community banks will…

…continue to prosper and be a great place to work. Opportunities for personal growth, opportunities for ownership, opportunities to apply learning experience, opportunities to make a difference, opportunities to truly know your clients, and opportunities to add value to the communities that we live in.

What keeps you up at night?

Other than the ducks on the lake in our back yard, not much.
