Sierra Wireless’ MC8780 embedded module was selected by Fujitsu Siemens Computers for integration in the new LIFEBOOK P7230 notebook. The computer is the first in the product line to migrate to the Sierra Wireless module and is expected to begin commercial shipments in Europe this summer. Sierra Wireless, which has operations in Carlsbad, says its new module offers faster download speeds, with peak data rates of up to 7.2 megabits per second. It is the first Sierra Wireless module designed for high-speed uplink packet access, or HSUPA networks, with uplink speeds more than five times faster than those available on existing networks.
