Barr Cycles Through
Goal-setting Challenge

< Nadia Bermudez | Cynthia Burke >

Timothy Barr is a dedicated goal-setter who embraces challenge, both professional and personal. “I don’t care if I am training for a long-distance triathlon or working hard to grow the company, the passion that I have to succeed is what gets me out of bed each day,” he says. “The principles are the same: Where do you want to go? What do you want to accomplish? How are you going to get there?”

As an associate and marketing director of JCJ Architecture’s San Diego office, he has helped build local annual revenues from less than $2 million to over $11 million. Last year, he was instrumental in winning over $200 million worth of projects for JCJ Architecture, which has jumped from the 32nd to the eighth largest San Diego architecture firm during his four-year tenure. In the meantime, he chairs the Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Committee and has conducted workshops on marketing planning and development for the local chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

Barr, 31, volunteers with Rehab United Physical Therapy’s work with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and is active in Pacific Beach’s Southcoast Community Church, which he attends with his wife, Julie. An avid cyclist and member of the San Diego Triathlon Club, he has raised more than $20,000 for Multiple Sclerosis research.
