Davies Builds With
Passion For The Future

< Sandra Chong | Sonia Del Rincon >

Development is a passion for Malcolm Davies, principal at Sand & Sea Equity Group. Ask Davies, 32, about his recent projects, Nine 2 Five and The Nolan, and he explains with great enthusiasm what drives him as a developer.

“I want to build a responsible development,” he says of the luxury office condominium projects planned for Downtown. “I think about people’s perspectives when I build.”

Davies says he wants to increase product quality. He thinks of future generations and includes energy efficiency and environmental responsibility standards in his product. The office projects will consist of for-sale space that Davies hopes will become real estate assets for the buyers. “Some (units) may become worth more than the business itself,” he says.

Davies grew up with a rocket scientist and doctor of physics for parents. He says it made for very interesting dinner conversations.

He commits much of his time to young professional programs, including the Young Leaders Group of Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana District Council and the Young Executive Society.

Davies and his wife, Angela, are involved with San Diego Youth & Community Services. The couple organized a golf tournament and wine tasting fund raiser that raised $15,000 to support the organization’s homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth programs.
