Welcome to the eighth annual 40 Under 40 special section where we once again recognize our region’s exceptional young business and civic leaders. Collected in April and May, the nominations were stellar. That left it to our judges, who met in mid-June, to make the tough calls, and we thank them for their efforts.
Our judges are a pretty diverse bunch themselves. The group includes Kevin Elliottt, president of Roel Construction; Louise Torio, executive director of Historic San Diego Consulting; Dick Cloward, the recently retired charter operations manager of Jimsair who remains a consultant; Dennis Guseman, dean of the College of Business Administration at CSU San Marcos; Sofia Salgado, community affairs manager at KSWB-TV; and Dwayne Crenshaw, executive director of the Coalition of Neighborhood Councils.
Each of the 40 honorees is profiled on the following pages. Meet and celebrate with them on Sept. 11, and learn more about each, during an uplifting luncheon program at the San Diego Convention Center. Along with good-natured fun and a champagne start, you’ll dine on an appetizer of “Vine Ripe Tomatoes” featuring bocaccini mozzarella, basil pesto, balsamic and sourdough crostini, delight in an entrée of “Maple Brined Airline Chicken Breast” with spaghetti squash and roasted apple cider vinaigrette, and top it all off by savoring dessert of “Caffebaut White Chocolate Cheesecake” with raspberry compote.
