It will be a while before Megan Dyer Rebelo, 34, returns to her job as vice president of the San Diego office of Allison & Partners, a national public relations firm. On Aug. 2, she gave birth to her and husband Mike’s first child, whom they named Paige Kimberly. Megan’s middle name is Kimberly, which originated from the name she was given at her own birth in Korea Oh Sun Kim.
While motherhood is extremely important to Megan, she fully intends to return to the agency she joined in 2003, where she grew revenues from $120,000 that year to a projected $1 million-plus in 2007. But will she be as dedicated to her work as she was before she became a mom? “The dedication is still there,” she says. “The priorities might have shifted slightly.”
While Megan has been at the helm of Allison & Partners in San Diego, the agency has won several industry awards. It also has been the most profitable of the company’s seven offices. “I get to work with such creative people,” she says when asked what she likes most about the job. “It’s challenging and rewarding at the same time and there’s opportunities for success as well as challenges to solve and learn from.”
Outside the office, Megan is active with the Asian Business Association, the San Diego Workforce Partnership and Association for Corporate Growth, among others.
