Smith Gives Lessons On
Business And Having Fun

< Marco Sessa | Chris Snook >

When she’s not sailing, power boat racing, riding her Kawasaki Ninja, traveling — or getting married — Stacey Nelson Smith runs a growing advertising and marketing firm called Ad Ease, not to be confused with the military term to relax. Smith formed the company in 1999 after leaving another local agency and has watched it grow to a staff of 12 with annual revenues of $2 million.

Smith, 34, married Bo Smith, a laboratory products salesman, in Hawaii earlier this year. They both love to travel and recently returned from a vacation in Spain..

Ad Ease represents clients in an array of industries including automotive, hospitality, home building and financial. “Our work is primarily determining strategic plans for our clients,” says Smith. “What do I like about it the most? Watching results happen after you’ve worked so hard. It’s a real cool payoff.”

When she’s not involved with work and hobbies, Smith is involved with a number of nonprofits — Voices for Children, Mama’s Kitchen and Think Blue, for example. “Voices for Children is a child advocacy group for kids whose parents can’t take care of them,” says Nelson. “Our goal is to get the kids into long-term placements. I’ve been working with one case for the last eight years involving a 12-year-old boy. I’ll be involved for at least another two or three years on that case.”
