Shop Talk with Nathan Rogge,
president and CEO, First Business Bank

What are your hobbies and/or relaxations?

I am a proud father of three children, Paige, 5, Andrew, 4, and Evan, 6 months. So my wife, Jessica, and I don’t have much spare time. I enjoy biking, running and diving. I spend time on personal real estate projects. I am also involved in the Banker’s Small Business CDC as a board member and am an active member of Vistage International.

Five years from now, community banks will…

…continue to play an important part in San Diego’s business community. Experienced community bankers who know the marketplace will always provide better service to local business owners. Because we’re smaller with flatter organizations, we are able to treat our clients as individuals and tailor a portfolio of products and services that best meet their needs. Community banks can focus on relationships over a longer period of time. First Business Bank is committed to being a community bank in San Diego for 20-plus years, which allows us to develop long-term relationships and truly become the best bank for our clients.

What keeps you up at night?

Besides my children, there are a number of opportunities for First Business Bank in San Diego. I continually think about how to best serve our clients, become the best bank in the community and develop long-term strategies for growth and success.
