Diversity Specialist

< Christopher Findley | Richard Geisler >

Gary Garcia has not been a San Diegan for very long, but already the 30-year-old Colorado native has made his mark: first overseeing corporate and event marketing for the San Diego Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and, since 2006, as location administrative manager for the UTC/La Jolla office of international accounting giant Ernst & Young.

Among the office’s younger managers, Garcia is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and financial organizational goals and operations for his office as well as being an active member of two of the firm’s key employee groups. He is the lead representative for the firm’s San Diego offices on Ernst & Young’s bEYond, which supports an LGBT culture that recognizes and leverages the value of diversity at Ernst & Young, and is active in EY Cultura (Cultivating), which promotes the advancement, professional development, recruitment and retention of Latinos within Ernst & Young.

When not at work or traveling, he is a volunteer for several local organizations, including the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Turning the Hearts Center, which fosters programs that empower youth leadership development and the Greater San Diego Business Association.

Story Comments

He makes a darn good salsa too. Not the greatest fisherman or poker player but one hell of a nice guy. See you in October.
