Hospitality ‘Glue’ Master

< Richard Geisler | Don Giaquinto >

Boston’s Michael Georgopoulos began his career in hospitality at 13, washing dishes in a local restaurant. Many hospitality venues later — plus stints as co-owner of a Massachusetts hair salon and in banquets, catering and sales with Starwood Hotels & Resorts — 34-year-old Georgopoulos now is a partner, vice president and entertainment logician of San Diego’s EnDev Enterprises.

He joined the firm, then known as 3/73 Management, in January 2004 to serve as general manager of Side Bar and Ciro’s Pizzeria in the Gaslamp Quarter. Side Bar now is closed for rehab and rebranding, but EnDev’s enterprises as developer/manager of hip restaurant/lounge/club/events venues have mushroomed with Downtown’s Stingaree and The Witherby, Pacific Beach’s Bar West, the recently opened Hillcrest Universal and, next year, La Jolla’s iconic Top o’ the Cove.

Georgopoulos, whose partners credit as being “the glue,” plays an integral role in each EnDev venue from concept, design and training through grand openings benefiting such nonprofits as Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Make-A-Wish Foundation, to ongoing entertainment. In addition, he’s worked on Backyard Bash, a local band event that raises money for the Leukemia Society of America.
