Heritage Security Services Acquired by Santa Ana Company

San Diego-based Heritage Security Services has been acquired by Universal Protection Service of Santa Ana, a division of Universal Services of America. The San Diego company provides security services throughout Southern California, including services for San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System. The company provides uniformed officers, mobile patrols, courier services and special events security, among others. “We are very excited to be part of Universal Protection Service. The resources of Universal and Heritage coming together creates an exceptional customer service delivery capability and allows our clients to continue receiving the state-of-the-art technology they have come to expect,” said Lawrence Richman, CEO of Heritage Security Services.

Silvergate Bank Has Opened a New Branch in Carlsbad

Silvergate Bank has opened a full-service branch in Carlsbad, its fifth location. The branch, located at 5810 Camino Real, is served by branch manager Steven Ahlquist and Donna Detzel, branch service manager; Karen Lindberg, relationship banker; and Erica Flores universal banker. Free Solar Information Program Set for May 12

Sullivan Solar Power will hold a free solar program luncheon on May 12 focusing on solar technology, rebates and incentives, case studies and the countywide San Diego Solar Program. San Diego property owners will learn how to get paid to go solar through participation. The program will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park. UC San Diego Health System to Welcome a New CEO

Paul S. Viviano, chairman of the board and CEO of Alliance Healthcare Services, has accepted the position as the new CEO of UC San Diego Health System and associate vice chancellor for health sciences. His appointment was approved by the UC Board of Regents. He begins the position on June 1. Viviano has been with Alliance Healthcare Services, which provides advanced outpatient diagnostic imaging services, since 2003. He has previously served as president and CEO of USC University Hospital and USC/Norris Cancer Hospital, a private research and teaching hospital staffed by faculty from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Before USC, Viviano was president and CEO of the 300-bed Long Beach Community Hospital between 1985 and 1987, and was CEO of Los Alamitos Medical Center from 1980 to 1985.

Voit Arranges Sale of 24 Units at Venture Commerce Center

Voit Real Estate Services has completed the sale of 24 office, industrial and flex condominium totaling 65,000 square feet in the Venture Commerce Center in Oceanside for $6.25 million. LAMCO LLC, a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., retained Voit to develop a sales program for the foreclosed condo project consisting of seven buildings divided into 43 individual units. Randy LaChance and Todd Holley of Voit and Rusty Williams of Lee & Associates completed the sale. The center is located at 3600-3682 Ocean Ranch Boulevard

Three UCSD Professors Elected to the National Academy of Sciences

Three professors at UC San Diego have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Roberto Malinow, Ruth Williams and William Young were among the 84 new members and 21 foreign associates elected to the academy “in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.” Malinow, a professor of neurosciences at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and a professor of biology in the Division of Biological Sciences, came to the campus in March 2008 from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, where he held the Alle Davis and Maxine Harrison Endowed Chair of Neurosciences since 1998. Williams, a professor of mathematics, joined the UC San Diego faculty in 1983 and currently holds the Charles Lee Powell Chair in Mathematics. Young, a professor of physical oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, came to Scripps in 1982 as a postdoctoral researcher, returned to MIT in 1984 as an assistant professor and came back to Scripps in 1988.

San Diego — DeeAnne Snyder, Donald Bottger and Debbie Dyer have been selected to head three key divisions of the San Diego Convention Center Corp. Snyder was named director of event services, replacing Ron King, who accepted a position as the new director of the Dallas Convention Center. She started work at the center in 1993 as an event coordinator and has 25 years of event management experience. Bottger accepted the new position of director of facility services. He has two decades of facility management experience and previously worked for the corporation in various capacities starting in 1989 when the Convention Center first opened. Dyer was named director of convention services, the position formerly held by Snyder. Dyer is responsible for overseeing the convention services team and directing the day-to-day operations of convention services, convention staffing and housing services. She previously was marketing and events/trade show manager for Lakeshore Learning Materials.
