California’s Latest Gas Tax Hike – Just in Time for July 4th Holiday

AAA reports Monday June 23rd that the U.S. average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.220.

June 4th, AAA reported that the national average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.144; mid-grade was $3.629; premium was $3.984 and diesel was $3.516.

California’s average price for a gallon of regular gas is $4.663.

‘Bad decisions’: Council slams mayor for improper spending amid budget vetoes

San Diego City councilmembers slammed Mayor Todd Gloria Monday afternoon for improperly spending millions in city dollars, even as he vetoed funding for homeless services and other aid organizations to tighten the city’s budget.

Councilmembers Kent Lee, Sean Elo-Rivera, Henry Foster III and Joe LaCava unloaded on Gloria for cutting funding to key community services and urged the council to overturn all of his vetoes during that afternoon’s vote.

It’s the latest development in the city council and the mayor’s tug of war over San Diego’s budget for the upcoming year as the city works to solve a $258 million deficit.

State workers get a reprieve from Newsom’s return-to-office mandate

Gov. Gavin Newsom is open to giving California public employees a temporary break on his return-to-office mandate.

The union representing about 14,000 state engineers today announced a deal that would delay Newsom’s order that they return to work four days a week for one year. It was supposed to take effect July 1.

The Professional Engineers in California Government disclosed that agreement alongside a new contract that includes some concessions Newsom wanted to trim payroll expenses as he tries to shore up a $12 billion budget deficit.
