Lawmakers Urge Meta to Shut Down Instagram Map, Citing Harm to Children
By Naveen Athrappully | The Epoch Times
Instagram’s new map feature places children in danger from those who wish to do them harm, Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said in an Aug. 8 letter addressed to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
“Allowing children to share their real-time location and more readily displaying where they take pictures to strangers—many of whom may be pedophiles and traffickers—will only increase the dangers children face online,” the senators said, asking Zuckerberg to “immediately abandon” the feature.
Instagram Map, announced by Meta last week, allows users to share their most recent active location with friends.

The Anti-Trump Legal Tsunami Continues
By Kim Strassel | The Wallstreet Journal
The tidal wave of litigation against Donald Trump’s administration has grown so large as to inspire an entire cottage industry of media “litigation trackers.” Meanwhile, each outfit has devised its own take on how to track or categorize the hundreds of lawsuits, injunctions, and appeals that change day by day.
Lawfare’s tracker, for instance, offers useful topline statistics, noting that as of Aug. 12, there are 326 “active” cases challenging administration actions, 49 suits or appeals that have been dismissed, and another 12 suits the Trump team has filed challenging state or local laws. It also offers a win-loss tally (8 rulings for the administration; 22 against), and links to each case.
Just Security’s topline stats focus more on the progress of each lawsuit, categorizing them by the manner in which they’ve been blocked. Both it and Bloomberg Law’s tracker link each case to the Trump executive order or action that prompted it. The Washington Post and New York Times trackers offer more explanation of high-profile cases. The Associated Press’s tracker offers a color-coded graphic that seeks to list both the category of lawsuit (DOGE, DEI, federal funding) and the status of the case.
