Zombie bills: Why California lawmakers bring back legislation governors kill

The bill was dead. Twice dead, in fact: Two times in the past two years, Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed legislation to ban California companies from deploying driverless trucks.

Yet lawmakers have resurrected the idea and inserted it into a new bill — with the Teamsters union hoping the third time will be the charm.

There’s no indication Newsom has changed his mind. Still, Democratic Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, representing the Davis area, said she brought the autonomous trucking bill back because it’s good policy aimed at “protecting our public safety and our jobs.” She said it has nothing to do with the Teamsters’ large donations to lawmakers.

Duh: ‘Democrats Are Not Thrilled About Kamala’

Democrats are not thrilled about Kamala, reads the headline from a Politico article Sunday.

Let me break the news to Politico: Democrats were never thrilled about Kamala. She’s an elitist politician who hides behind race and gender as cover for her incompetence.

Kamala Harris is the poster child for everything wrong with affirmative action.

Race and gender are not qualifications, skills, talent or personality traits.

The Washington Post and The New York Times reported Sunday that Democrat activists and party delegates are tepid at best on former Vice President Kamala Harris launching a gubernatorial bid.

Deceitful So Cal Gas Water Heater Ban Back

heater, your gas furnace, your gas dryer, your gas grille, your gas blower, your gas fireplace, and any other gas-powered appliance or vehicle you can think of, the Globe warned in December.

In the interim Donald Trump was sworn in as President, and his U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright announced in March the Department of Energy has further postponed the implementation of three of the Biden-Harris administration’s restrictive mandates on home appliances. Yes, the Trump Administration’s Energy Department is rolling back the Biden Administration’s draconian regulations on appliances.

Yet the South Coast Air Quality Management District has a June 6 vote to ban gas powered water heaters and home furnaces in Southern California – despite that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Berkeley’s attempt to ban gas powered water heaters.
