The New York Post to launch The California Post newspaper in LA

New York Post Media Group, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., will launch a new, daily Los Angeles-based newspaper called “The California Post” in early 2026, the New York Post’s editor-in-chief Keith Poole told Axios.

Why it matters: It’s a ripe market, and one in which NYPMG — home to the New York Post, Page Six and Decider — already has a leg up.

Los Angeles is home to the second-largest concentration of Post readers, per News Corp.

Chris Dainty is wearing his ever-present Padres hat and a black T-shirt from Kelly’s Olympian, a bar and music club in Portland. He is standing behind the bar at Key and Cleaver, his burger restaurant on the corner of University and Euclid avenues in City Heights. Kelly’s opened in 1902, Key and Cleaver in 2023.

Dainty is talking about his BBQ bacon burger — the beef comes from a ranch in Julian, the sauce is his own recipe and the bun is from Bread and Cie. The beers on tap are from San Diego’s breweries.

After a couple decades of working in bars and restaurants, he and his wife, Jenn Hager, opened their place in 2023 just as a major road construction project started down the block.

‘Visual medicine’: a San Diego photographer’s mission to empower breast cancer survivors

When Galina Semenova moved from Russia to the United States 16 years ago, spending the last 12 in San Diego, she never imagined her camera would become a tool for healing.

Today, the fine art portrait photographer uses what she calls “visual medicine” to help breast cancer survivors reclaim their sense of beauty and power through her nonprofit, Womanity Portrait Foundation.

Semenova’s journey to this calling unfolded gradually. After studying at the Moscow Academy of Photography, she dedicated years to capturing landscapes and events, seeking her artistic voice.
