By Barry M. Bloom | Special to Times of San Diego
The sale of the Padres is scheduled for approval this coming Monday via conference call, a baseball source told Times of San Diego Tuesday.
The news comes days after John Seidler, the team’s control person, told the Times of San Diego at Chase Field that the deal was expected to close sometime this month.
The Seidler family announced May 2 they had decided to sell the team to Jose Feliciano, co-founder of Clearlake Capital Group, a private equity firm, and co-owner of the English soccer club Chelsea FC, and his wife, Kwanza Jones, a singer and songwriter. The team will be sold at a record valuation of $3.9 billion.

Even the Avengers couldn’t escape this fine.
Marvel Studios was slapped with a $160,000 penalty after a giant advertisement for “Avengers: Doomsday” covered San Diego’s iconic Gaslamp Quarter arch during Comic-Con.
The studio and Los Angeles-based advertising company Elevue Outdoor installed the massive green-and-black display despite city officials warning them not to go ahead.
SDSU to build senior housing — for older adults, not students
by Drew Sitton | Times of San Diego
Many seniors at San Diego State University take time to reflect on what they have experienced, build fond memories and prepare for the future.
But seniors in their final year of school aren’t the only group in that same transition period. A new housing project will bring a very different group of seniors, made up of older adults, onto SDSU’s campus to relive their cherished youth.
In partnership with senior living facilitator Merrill Gardens, developer Pillar Properties, and Solana Beach-based healthcare real estate developer PMB, San Diego State University plans to build 250 apartments for seniors, ranging from independent living to assisted living and even includes 26 memory care units.
