By Thomas Murphy | Times of San Diego
The pro-closure crowd included Barrett Pall, a social media personality turned wildlife advocate who launched a pro-closure Change.org campaign in August. Pall called upon his supporters to attend the meeting and make their views known.
Pall’s petition surpassed 48,000 signatures before the meeting began.
“I want to thank you all for being here tonight,” town council president Mary Soriano said, after a 10-minute delay, addressing the crowded conference room with an echoing karaoke microphone and speaker.

Earlier this month he supported his Democratic colleagues, Supervisors Paloma Aguirre and Terra Lawson-Remer, in spending $1.8 million of county reserve money to study the feasibility of capturing and cleaning the entire river, as it flows out Mexico. This plan would also make the county, as opposed to the state or feds, responsible for cleaning the river.

by Katy Grimes | California Globe
The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating California Governor Gavin Newsom’s international travel and personal spending.
The U.S. Attorney’s office issued subpoenas this month requesting testimony and communications with Newsom and others, according to reporting by the San Francisco Standard.
Prosecutors requested six years of records from the California State Protocol Foundation, a nonprofit that has paid for Newsom’s international travel. Newsom has directed millions of dollars in donations to the Protocol Foundation, according to records reviewed by the California Post. How does Gov. Newsom’s travel spending through the California State Protocol Foundation compare to previous governor’s?
