Credit for Taxes Paid

By Chris Micheli | California Globe

Division 2, Part 10, Chapter 12 of the Revenue and Taxation Code deals with credit for taxes paid under the California Personal Income Tax Law.

Section 18001 provides that residents are allowed a credit against the “net tax” for net income taxes imposed by and paid to another state (not including any preference, alternative, or minimum tax comparable to the tax imposed by Section 17062) on income taxable under this part. The credit is not allowed in four specified instances.

Section 18002 states that nonresidents are allowed a credit against the “net tax” for net income taxes imposed by and paid to the state of residence (not including any preference, alternative, or minimum tax comparable to the tax imposed by Section 17062) on income taxable under this part. Landlords have spent $77K to unseat San Diego councilman. Two local business groups say their $45K donation is unrelated.

by Tessa Balc | Times of San Diego

The California Apartment Association is spending big to unseat Councilmember Henry Foster III in the closing days of his reelection campaign.

That spending has coincided with major contributions from local business groups like the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown San Diego Partnership into political committees run by the California Apartment Association.

But leaders at those local groups say their donations have nothing to do with the late push to oust Foster — even though the donations and spending both occurred within a 10-day stretch in October just after both local groups made late endorsements of Foster’s opponent, Martha Abraham.

Yvette Gellis Explores Humanity’s Connection to Nature in Mid-Career Survey at Oceanside Museum of Art | November 21, 2026 – April 25, 2027

by Oceanside Museum of Art

Step into a world where landscapes breathe, light becomes a living force, and nature speaks in unexpected ways. Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) will present Yvette Gellis: Toward Light and the Living Landscape, on display November 21, 2026 through April 25, 2027. The exhibition introduces the ambitious paintings of artist Yvette Gellis, The Voice of the Glacier, inspired by time spent in Patagonia.

Bringing together significant works spanning Gellis’ career, the exhibition explores the evolving relationship between humanity and the natural world through immersive paintings that exist between abstraction and landscape. Rather than depicting specific places, Gellis creates environments shaped by memory, perception, and transformation, where shifting light, layers, and textures invite viewers into spaces that feel both ancient and continually emerging.

The debut of The Voice of the Glacier serves as the centerpiece of the exhibition. Inspired by the rapidly receding ice fields of Patagonia, the work reflects on a world in constant transformation, where air, water, plants, and human life remain deeply interconnected. Instead of offering a singular environmental message, the installation encourages viewers to consider how the living world communicates through subtle changes in light, atmosphere, and form.
