San Diego County Credit Union expands residential and commercial real estate loan services

San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is continuing to expand its residential and commercial real estate loan services, according to Teresa Halleck, president and CEO.
“Many commercial property investors traditionally look to the big mega-banks for their commercial real estate lending needs,” said Halleck, “while some homeowners might neglect to remember that their hometown credit union also offers first and second mortgages, refinances and equity lines of credit. So, we are continuing with several ongoing initiatives to boost the awareness that we are the place to go for real estate loans.”
For business and commercial lending, SDCCU has been offering lending for more than a decade to commercial property investors for apartments, retail, industrial and office properties located within the communities it serves. SDCCU introduced commercial lending in 2000, and currently has a strong performing portfolio of more than $380 million.
“All loan decisions are made locally,” said Halleck. “We have personnel who are dedicated to underwriting and processing. Our business and home lending experts help our members through the entire lending process, every step of the way.”
For home loans, SDCCU offers rates that are extremely competitive with a number of flexible loan options, including several programs with no point, no hidden fees and up to 95 percent financing. SDCCU also offers customers the opportunity to take advantage of fixed or adjustable rate loans with free 60-day rate-lock options. A special real estate services program also include benefits such as a dedicated Member Advocate who will match customers with a Credit Union Certified Realtor, plus a 20 percent cash reward on their agent’s real estate commission and a year of discounts and savings at select retailers.
SDCCU is ranked as one of the top five home loan lenders in San Diego among more than several hundred financial organizations in the state, according to the National Credit Union Association, servicing several thousands of customers a year. SDCCU has helped many local homeowners needing relief from their higher monthly payments on adjustable rate loans they obtained from big banks several years ago.
“Based on the credit union philosophy of people helping people, we have made an extra effort to help the same homeowners whom the mega-banks were not willing to help,” said Halleck. “I am proud that we have been responsive and receptive to serving our members’ needs in this important area. I don’t think there is a better time than now to look at our various number of home loan options.”
SDCCU’s success as a real estate lending partner is possible because of SDCCU’s financial strength and commitment to convenient services and value offered to customers. For over 70 years, SDCCU has grown with the communities it serves.
