California’s Cap-and-Trade program funds

$28 billion in climate investments over last decade

California’s cap-and-trade program has funded $28 billion in climate investments – delivering more than half a million projects across the state, supporting 30,000 jobs and cutting millions of tons of carbon emissions. In just 10 years, California’s climate investments have wiped out emissions equivalent to taking 80 percent of the state’s gas cars off the road. That’s according to a new report released by the state, which comes just ahead of national Infrastructure Week.

California has funded $28 billion in climate investments in the last 10 years, already delivering $11 billion to more than half a million projects that fight climate change and cut pollution. The remaining $17 billion will fund more projects in the coming years. The investments include a wide range of solutions such as putting affordable housing near job centers, building the nation’s first high-speed rail, and adding zero-emission transportation options in underserved communities.

California Western School of Law removes itself

from U.S. News and World Report rankings

California Western School of Law will no longer participate in the U.S. News and World Report rankings promise, according to Dean Sean M. Scott.

“California Western enjoys a reputation for preparing students to make an immediate impact upon entering the workforce and to lead careers of consequence, “ Scott said in a prepared statement. “Our mission has long emphasized the importance of using the law to solve human and societal problems, and of training lawyers who represent the diversity of the communities and clients they serve.”

The U.S. News and World Report methodology conflicts with these goals by penalizing schools that focus on public service and a holistic review of each admissions applicant, said Scott. “As we deepen our commitment to building a truly equitable community and to diversifying the legal profession, the gap between the goals of the rankings and those of our institution continues to widen. And while we work to broaden the school’s national visibility, we will do so based on our values and our merits.”

It also highlights those winding down their time with the squadron before moving on to their next assignment.
