Opposition groups unite as challenge to Balboa Park parking fees gathers momentum

Opponents said Saturday that they will join forces to try and force the city to set aside the parking fees at Balboa Park that have angered so many residents.

The speakers at a rally at the park’s Organ Pavilion – including former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and others with local Republican or conservative ties – gathered to announce the collaboration, which is set to begin next month.

Among them were members of San Diego United Communities, a coalition of local groups typically associated with opposition to large-scale developments, and Richard Bailey, a former mayor of Coronado who is behind the “Repeal the Fees” website, a challenge to the parking fees.

California Post ushers in new era of journalism with ‘the DNA of the New York Post’

A new era of news consumption arrived when the California Post officially launched on Monday.

The California Post will operate as a separate entity under the New York Post Media Group but will strive to use the familiar “plain-spoken journalism” as its corporate sibling. The paper aims to bring accountability to the Golden State with seven-days-a-week digital and print offerings.

“We are bringing the DNA of the New York Post and that is journalism that is really, really plugged into the audience… it is the DNA of the New York Post, which is plain-spoken commonsense wit, and having a laser-like focus on what is of interest to this audience. That’s always what made the New York Post successful,” California Post editor-in-chief Nick Papps told Fox News Digital.

Bills that were introduced last year are running up against a deadline next week, which has resulted in a committee-meeting frenzy this week.

That includes Assemblymember David Alvarez’s proposal, Assembly Bill 35, to help climate projects funded by a voter-approved $10 billion climate bond to be disbursed more quickly, including for projects in the Tijuana River Valley.
