Owner of Little Italy tower faces foreclosure over $33 million on past-due loan

A dark cloud has fallen over the tallest tower in Little Italy. Its owner is facing foreclosure as well as legal challenges and the threat of repaying tens of millions in debt on the eye-catching office building.

West Ash Operating LLC was hit with a breach-of-contract lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court on Jan. 7 over missing payments on their $33 million loan.

The building lender claims that as the owner, West Ash, has not made payments on the property since March 1 of last year.

Nationwide Gas Prices Jump 11 Cents; California Still Leads with the Highest Gas Prices

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline jumped 11 cents overnight, according to AAA.

The Hill is reporting that “A Nexstar analysis of AAA data found that, from Monday to Tuesday, nearly 30 states saw the average price of a gallon of gas increase by at least 10 cents. In three states, the price jumped by more than 20 cents.”

“These states saw the largest increase in gas prices over the last day, according to AAA:

  1. Ohio, up 23 cents $3.004
  2. Georgia, up 22 cents to $3.010
  3. Indiana, up 20 cents to $2.999
  4. Florida, up 19 cents to $3.068
  5. Iowa, up 18 cents to $2.809

Marine F-35C stealth jets from Miramar involved in Iran strikes

Marine Corps F-35C stealth jets from Miramar were among the aircraft that struck Iran early Saturday morning during attacks by the United States and Israel.

A photo released by Central Command showed a jet launching from the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is reportedly operating off Oman in the North Arabian Sea.

“The President ordered bold action, and our brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, guardians and coast guardsmen are answering the call,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM.
