San Diego County’s iconic coastal locations face triple threat from ‘Super El Niño’

If predictions are accurate and a “Super El Niño” is on San Diego’s event horizon, dozens of iconic locations along San Diego’s coastline will have to withstand not one but three threats, those being erosion of beaches, bluff collapse and coastal flooding from huge swells, high tides and rain.
The triple threat could potentially alter the region’s coastline — according to Adam Young, a Scripps Institution of Oceanography geomorphologist who studies California’s changing coastline.

Americans finally found something to agree on: concern about the rapid proliferation of data centers.
A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that only 1 in 3 Americans approves of the current pace of data center construction, and most would oppose a facility being built in their own community. That skepticism comes at a time when confidence in Big Tech is at an all-time low, according to Gallup.
These concerns deserve attention, not because the data center boom can be stopped, but because it can’t.

Suddenly, a debate has erupted over the existential dangers of artificial intelligence. Jacob Coxon, a little-known Silicon Valley researcher who worked at OpenAI and Anthropic, resigned and went public with a dire warning: AI now threatens the future of the world.
Shortly beforehand, news broke of the Hugging Face episode, in which OpenAI’s advanced AI “agents” autonomously hacked another company’s computers.
Bedlam followed.
